The Pillars of the Earth Musical, Copenhagen
In 2012, The Pillars of the Earth was adapted by Thomas Høg, Lasse Aagaard and Sune Svanekier into a Danish musical. Jordens Søjler premiered at the Østre Gasværk Teater in Copenhagen on the 12th October 2016.
The musical adaptation starred Maria Lucia Heiberg Rosenberg as Aliena and Laus Høybye as Jack, with Caspar Phillipson as Prior Philip, Kasper Leisner as Tom Builder, Nicolai Jandorf as William, Andrea Pellegrini as Ellen.
The musical ran until 29th January 2017, with the initial run being extended four times. It was seen by 72,000 people across 94 performances, including by Ken himself who attended the premier in Copenhagen.
The Pillars of the Earth Musical, Silkeborg
In 2025, The Pillars of the Earth returned to the Danish stage at Jysk Musikteater in Silkeborg. The musical adaptation was dramatised by Thomas Høg, Lasse Aagaard and Sune Svanekier.
The production starred Lars Mølsted as Prior Philip, with Johannes Johansen as Jack and Ellen Fjord as Aliena, supported by a large ensemble of amateur and semi-professional performers. The cast delivered powerful choral and ensemble scenes, accompanied by a live orchestra under the direction of Henrik Svenning.
